Dr. JP Meets his Orkut Friends

Orkut is a social networking site popular amongst youth in India. Youth discovered it is a great way of being connected. One can find long lost friends, stay connected with current friends, and make new friends. One can create communities of their own on any topic of their liking or join existing ones.

Many communities have been created by earnest Orkutters on political topics. The communities have become hotbeds for emerging trends in political thought amongst Indian youth. Youth discuss here wide-ranging political ideas and thoughts. Youth discuss the state of the existing political culture and the need for a change and how we can bring about the change. They discuss the pressing need to combat the menace of corruption in our governance and politics.

Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan and Lok Satta Party are popular among young Orkutters. There are more than 110 communities in Orkut dedicated to Lok Satta Party and Dr. JP. Thousands of youth are members of these communities.

They drum up support for Lok Satta Party and discuss the importance of ensuring to all equal opportunities for growth and ending any discrimination based on birth. They discuss the novel measures introduced by Lok Satta Party that stand testimonial to the party’s commitment to transparency and democracy. Many earnest, erudite youth desiring change participate in these discussions. They have been advocating the need for a New Political Culture in the cyber world.

LSP provided the virtual world Lok Satta Party activists a chance to get involved in the activities of LSP in real.

Dr. JP met his Orkut friends at the party head office at 1:30 pm on Sunday, 9th March and had an interaction with them. There was a lively discussion on the current political scenario in Andhra Pradesh. Dr. JP emphasized the need for youth to take an active part in politics. The youth expressed their support to Lok Satta Party and wished to participate in its activities.

The active members of the party then guided them on how they can get involved in the activities of LSP in their locality.

The meet concluded with the youth taking a pledge for a corruption-free, developed India.

  1. What an excellent way to reach out to the youth!! We know that the youth is disillusioned with our politics. No other party has tried to sincerely reach out to the young Indians. Parties create wings that cater to sectarian interests. Whereas, here we see a leader reaching out to the young, understanding their needs, and , most importantly, educating them on the need for good governance. Way to go, Lok Satta.

  5. Kudos Sir. Its highly inspiring and seems to be a ray of hope for our future. We shall do our share by spreading awareness so that people will appreciate and support Loksatta. Word of mouth definitely is most effective way to spread awareness and it is in the hands of us, the people to spread momentum. I am doing my share and urge all to do so too. For a better future..

  6. Kudos to you JP sir, At last my search for org for good governance ends with loksatta.I opine that the youngsters todays are worried about the corrupt politics, but are becoming lazy enough when it comes to bringing about the change by casting thier rightful vote. We from loksatta should educate the youth on this.

  8. Sir,
    Iam in USA
I watched the program, Yuddaniki siddham, it was good i enjoyed the feelings of political people.

I liked your speech, you have excellent leader ship qualities, but only when it is in scope of educated people,

when DHANAM nagendra garu rudely says to kotagiri,
"OOO ayya neeku asale BP monaati varaku bayata unnavu" its awkward, you said you all figth and talk like this but do good.

Doing good will not happen when you say them, TDP alliance people say their target is to make congress down, but they didnt say what developement plans they want to do clearly. Vidya, vaidya, aaharam, may be lower class slogan,

but their should be chaitanyam also added to it, m question to you is
did your party people reach youth in villages and make them know everything, their fundamental rights their needs, how to solve problems.

I was also grown up in village,
in 1979 I joined english medium school, one great lady started a school with help of her collegues, she gave english medium education to lot of people and may be with fundamentals all our bathcmates are doing excellent jobs not depending on govt.

when people ont depend on govt and find their own jobs then our country is forward nation,

In uSA iam seeing both husban and wife will work, in free time they read and do constructive works.

many things are provided to them, basically education is free and its class education until 12th

then in universities also gove support with aids and all are equally give with oppurtuniies

but in our society only BC, sc st gets aids. there are no research in science and technology, always governing bodies dont know how to use resources,

they export all rice and other stuff to foreign countires making no quality food to indians, thus rates go up.

They permit virtual trading for commodities which will hyperbolically increase the food rates for common man.

I wish you have to work on all these with governing bodies and make atleast some things corrected.

  9. I am 26,working as a software engineer.I have not given my vote to any party till now as i was very much irritated by unqualified, irresponsible, greedy politicians.
After knowing about Loksatta I decided that this is the only party which has zeal to work.

From now onwards my Vote would be for Loksatta.

I want to know if i can do more help.

  10. I wish I could resign my job and join Lok satta to spread its qualities to my locality. This fresh software job of mine prevents me from doing this. I will motivate those I could find around myself about our vote and how we have to safeguard ourselves from these existing politicians or the corrupt (In my view, our politicians are synonymous to 'the corrupt') and the way we are governed is the worst, a country could ever imagine. We need good governance. Not the bribe the govt. gives to vote for them, this election time. We need to create value and not to make our people beggars by giving them unwanted election schemes or public cheating schemes .

  13. The founder seems knowledgable, articulate, sincere and has a broad and thorough undersanding of the executive machinary and a vision to fix the faults in the system. I whole-heartedly exhort the youth to support LSP and donate generously for the worthy cause.

  18. Way to go Lok Satta and JP sir !!
And JP sir and I think you are one of the best politicians of our country.

I wanted to bring this topic for all of you to notice. I'm presently living in US for past 3 years. When I came here I was amazed at the roads system they have here. At first I was surprised to know that they had the Interstate roads( Road structures) planned by the then US President Dwight D. Eisenhower was 60 years ago and then I felt bad that no politician of our country felt that there was any need to have a better road system. Having a better road system saves gas, takes less time for travel, saves money, creates more jobs and most importantly connects all isolated places to the rest of the country.
Almost every developing country started building a better road system except India, I think there was a road system(the golden quadrilateral) planned a decade ago by NDA but I think no one bothered after the government changed.

    Thanks
    Raghu

  19. Iam very much sure Loksatta is the most needed political movement that our country terribly wanted now. Whatever may be the outcome of the ongoing general elections, one can tell surely that loksatta's agenda has been a topic every where in our state. So the election is very much success for our party. The next and the most important thing before the party and its leaders is to build up a party organization with dedicated cadres. I expect there will be an action plan regarding this once the general election completes.

  24. Respected Sir,

I saw your affidavit given in 2009 elections very recently. Your total income tax for the financial year 2008-2009 is Rs. 10411. That implies your total income per year is not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakhs. How come your kids are studying in US? How come you are maintaining such a luxorius life (compareed to us) with Rs 2.5 lakhs of income. If you have any ancistors property you should have paid wealth tax. so do you use the any of funds donated for LOKSATTA ?

Sir this is my most important query. Please Poast an article how you run your family and life with an income of Rs. 2.5 lakhs per year before questioning others interms of curroption.

    Thanks
    I hate "Meka vanne Puli"

    Subbanna garu,

I think you need to spend some time on understanding income tax rules. There are many laws in income tax, where one need not pay income tax even after earning crores of rupees. For example, if anyone gets dividend from any company, the entire money is tax free. If anyone sells shares after one year, the entire profit is tax-free. The income on agriculture is tax free. Before you comment on wealth tax, you need to understand more about wealth tax. If a person files an affidavit saying that, he has Rs.100 crore, it does not mean that he has to pay Rs.1 crore as wealth tax. It is applicable to only certain kind of wealth and not all.

For your information, the top 10 richest people in india are not in top 100 tax payers.
