Dr. JP Calls for Greater Participation of Women in Politics

Women should look at politics as a means of achieving self-respect and self-reliance for themselves as well as the people at large said Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan. He spoke at the self-employment training programme organized by Mahila Satta, the women wing of Lok Satta Party at the party State office. Representatives from Mahoobnagar Ideal Women’s Association provided training to women in making chocolate, surf, pain balm, liquid soap, shampoo. The women who acquired training will in turn train other women in their localities.

He said women should not get disheartened with the immediate problems they grapple with, but step forward with confidence and take an active part in politics. He said moving away of women from politics because it has got corrupt and criminalized will only aggravate the problem.

Dr. JP explained the women present the importance of their participation in local governance proposed by Lok Satta Party at the ward and district levels. He said women have developed an aversion to politics because bandhs, rastarokos, slander, and fighting have become an indispensable part of the prevailing political culture. He said the life of the common man will deteriorate further if the political culture remains the same. He said Lok Satta Party came into being to usher in a New Political Culture.

He said instead of becoming a private affair of a few as with other political parties, provisions have been made to enable genuine people’s participation in Lok Satta Party. He said LSP is built to be the property of the people and steps are taken to not cause any inconvenience to people during party events and maintain dignity even while criticizing someone. He said in a democracy the common man is king. He said empowering local governments and providing quality education, effective healthcare, and employment opportunities to all constitute the main agenda of LSP.

He said Lok Satta Party has reserved space for women in the organizational structure and party tickets like no other party has. He exhorted women to utilize this opportunity. He said greater women’s participation will expedite the process of ushering in the New Political culture.

He said setting up division-level governments to take governance to the door step of citizens ranks high on the agenda of Lok Satta Party for the coming GHMC elections and greater women’s participation in local governance will ensure 100% results. He exhorted the women who undertook training to in turn train women in their localities and help them stand on their own feet.

Mahila Satta State general secretary, Ms. D. Saroja, treasurer Ms. D. Manorama and Dr. Shoib, Mrs. K. Geetamurthy, Ms. Rama Devi, Ms. Subhashini, Ms. Gajanani, Ms. Umabala, Mudhosid, and Ms. Fatima have participated in the programme.

  1. Hi..nice ideas..
I think it could be better if you(or party representatives) start taking compliants on priority basis from people..

why i am telling this is, i am from tirupati. i am not happy with some things done by political people there. everyone knows that..no one is opposing.

i think once you receive complaint your representative can find the truth and solution too.

    thanks,
    kalyani.

  2. Dear Members and Founders of Lok satta ,

First of all I congratulate you with all due respect for your selfless work for our nation.
You are encouraging every person in India who can read that its time to reform ourselves.

I take this opportunity to request you members of mahila satta to encourage girl education among the woman who are utilizing your services from you to frame their life.

Education will eradicate ignorance- the root of all problems. Though gifted with equal IQ level many girls are deprived of their educational privileges. They are not financially independent and hence have been ill-treated. We should first bring change in the mindset of our woman that they are as important as men.

Many parents get their girls married at the age of 16-18 to some 27-30 year old man and then the girls have to life the rest of their lives at the mercy of their husbands, whether they like it or not because they do not have any other option.
Please change the rule of legal marriage from 18 to 20. Days have changed and nowadays 18 years is too early to get married even for a girl.
Please recommend not to send young girls to manual work and married woman to surrender to whims and fancies of drunken husbands.

Please educate our Indian woman that it’s nothing wrong to revolt against their irresponsible husbands if they spend their hard earned money on drinking and that it’s the mother’s duty to see her children’s life has some financial security.
The disappearing girls from the actual count will be reduced if mothers are educated. Girl fetus are aborted or killed at birth. The growing number of child rapes points to the harassment of men over women from years. Women must be educated to revolt against such issues.
Girls must be taught how to defend themselves physically in schools, strict rules must be passed against marriages below 20, for not sending their girls to schools and severe penalties must be filled with no bail options for ill treatment of women.

The irony of our own actions is that we call our country as mother and the most ill treated species in our country is girls.
I admire your work and aspire to have active participation in your committee.

    Thanks a lot

  3. Dear Dr JP Gaaru

Can LSP come out with number of couples (Husband and wife) who are active members in the party?

May be that can give a real impressive meaning to what it is propogating.

I think you remember that Mahatma Gandhi encouraged and made Kasturba as an active member in those days

  4. Firstly congratulations to people of India for being fortunate to have a party like Lok Satta that is taking up the issues in black and white. But I'm euqually disillusioned with the fact that we are fighting for the causes which are blantantly wrong and should have not crepted into a human society. Woman's participation is most important for a society to be successful escpecially in today's world.

The very reason that why most of our politicians are corrupted is the fact that they are fundamentally wrong in their thinking and don't have a strong character to standup for a right cause. Had they been imbided with ethics and strong character right from their childhood they would have had a great wisdom while working for people. This fundamental change can be brought in a child only by a woman as a mother, sister or a colleague.

I personally think along with women, Lok Satta party should also allocate resources in researching the way for participation of youth into public life. India has the potential to be a great nation like we were in the past provided each one of us who were fortunate to get a decent education to devote atleast few hours in each month for a public cause.

    Mahesh

  6. Respected Sir,

I am an IT professional, working in neighboring state. Roamed several countries with different life styles and culture. When ever I complete my abroad trip and come back to India, will feel, now a days Government of India is having enough funds, enough forex to rule in international markets, enough intellectual and human resource. But an average common man still struggling to have basic life style and facilities.

We have very good plans on hand to execute towards nation development. But vexed of these systems, which are utterly benefiting for CORRUPTION.

No politician is aware of environment and drastically and unhygienic development of cities. Small towns and villages should be developed first.

Kindly please suggest me how do I can participate to implement your impressive ideas towards a good nation building.

    Thanking you sir,

  8. Hello JP Sir..

My name is Sandeep, I am pursuing my Engineering final year in Hyderabad.

Sir I am very unhappy with the way the media is behaving. As far as I see ,the media is not covering all the speeches which you deliver either in your office or in the public offices. The media is so mean, its not impartial. I think the T.V channels and the paper are looking for their own benefits. Sir I have no age to suggest you but I wish you to give more publicity of yourself and the party than what it is now..
I was very much impressed when I saw one of ur debate on some health n medical issues in a TV channel for which you gather all the information in prior and u suggested some solutions which r technically correct.
I am looking forward to see my country where there are no differences based on birth or caste.. I also wish to see the development which is technically correct rather than vote bank.

    with regards.

  10. Your ideals looks good and inspirational. However, your approach on liquor ban tells me that you don't uderstand economics, normally when I say this...typical argument is, either I am a professional drinker or I do business around liquor products - none of this is applicable to me or to my family. If your goal is to have good governance/adminisration...banning is not solultion...provide/control and punish who don't follow the law.

If you don't understand basic things, how will you handle big issues. There are millions with great ideas but people are not ready for such change. people are happy with Congress, TDP, Pawar's, Lallo's and Pashwan's etc.,

Unless people spend time thinking what they & their future generation needs, people like you can waste their time thinking about doing something but end of the you will not accomplish anything measurable except you will have satisfaction of doing some civic duty, which is great.

Good luck, learn and put farward some policies which works in economically-integrated environment not by banning things you don't like. If you ban liquor in AP, people go to K'ka or Tamilanadu and get drunk....how will you stop?

    Hi JP,

Why do you want to encourage caste system ??
You were promising to give seats to BCs and women.
Why don't you think about reservations based on economical backwardness, I think you are very much like other parties seeking for seats using caste system as bait.

I appreciate all of your efforts.

In my view, Corruption should be eliminated in the following areas.

    Law
    Police
    Doctor
    Engineering

If we can eliminate corruption in the above mentioned areas.... Our country will become an Ideal country.

  17. regarding the discussion on strengthening parliamentary democracy which was telecast on Lok Sabha TV on 1st Nov-2008.

    Sir,
I am highly impressed by the constructive views presented by your goodself before the Speaker during the telecast of above programme.I am so overwhelmed by your thoughts that i felt like expressing my sincere and heartfelt acknowledgement to you.In the present political scenario no one can predict anything about what will happen tomorrow and the politicians (who are having 4-5 seats) are holding the country to ransom and obstructing by virtue of their ill intentions.People like you and your esteemed team members should encourage the voters to cast thier votes to a party by the virtue of their own judgement and not get influenced by the vested interests of the corrupt politicians.Wish you and your respected team members all the very best in your endeavours.

1)take a programme on pollution by planting saplings across A.P with the participation of 16-26 aged youth.
2)while conducting this types of program we should attract them in their manner i.e give all your adds by aggresive slogans in english not only in telugu, this may attract large masses of youth and offering them into the party by membership cards ,i hope you will think on this

  27. HAVE A POLICY_

    The Recession.
What INDIA now would require to concentrate is on.

    1) Agricultural Produce – Optimize it
    2) Water---- Plan & conserve
    3) FUEL—Avoid wastage -
    4) Power--- Alternate Sources
    5) Defense---- Strict –n –uncorrupted

Education, Health, Industry, should be encouraged to cater to the above needs.

    – Optimized & Judicious Usage is to be studied – have research centers.
    – Have less political cabinets
    – Concentrate on Internal developments-
    – Concentrate on developing Mind sets

Dr JP – There will be many other priorities –the suggestion will tend to be brushed aside –but try brushing aside other complex needs & people’s demands . Discount - & Focus till we achieve our above goals. A generation has to sacrifice

  33. Dear JP Sir,

I am a 29 year old Indian who never taken interest and pride in Voting earlier and have not put in any efforts to get a voting right for myself but Once I have seen you and your Party, I am doing everything that I can do to make sure I get you/your party, as many votes as possible by me!!

I have not just applied for voting but also eagerly waiting for 16th April-2008 to go and vote proudly for LOKSATTA. I am also trying my best possible to make sure some of the youth would Vote for you - in no other means than Sensitizing them towards using their VOTE effectively. Recently, I could convince one of the Auto wala to sensitize why should he Vote for you this time while he was almost fixed to vote for other selfish party!!

to put it in one liner, I would say, YOU ARE THAT TORTCH BEARER FOR THE PRESENT SOCIETY WHOSE PRESENCE IS BEING WAITED BY MANY - and take this opportunity to share my thought that - The biggest risk before you is NOT TO CLAIM POWER (which in a way is destined one day or the other - for you have no competition in values :-) but the biggest risk is HOW DO WE MAKE SURE YOUR PARTY MEMBERS ARE AS COMMITTED AND AS CLEAN AS YOU ARE AS OF NOW - AND WHAT SHOULD BE THE RIGHT APPROACH TO MAKE YOUR and OUR DREAM TRUE WITH THE GIVEN SET OF PEOPLE IN ALL ORGANS OF GOVT ??

Hope you are working on this and both INDIAN INTELLIGENTIA & GOD would help you achieve this :-)

Good luck and Good bye - Looking forward to meeting you some time in your office and donate some of my hard earned money to your party with pleasure.

I am inspired by Your Great Work.
Every Movement of LokSatta just thrills me such a way I get tears out of my eyes!!!
I dont know why, but, I AM emotional about all this.
I really experienced what is meant by "Ecstasy" when I keep watching any programme that Loksatta keeps doing.

I am excited to share this Great News that I came across, that a sub-inspector of "Pembi" in North Andhra Pradesh is doing wonderful service to that place.
Soon after joining duty as SI , he understood the difficulties of the Girijans over there, and he started doing
    (1) Bringing doctors to that remote place whenever he finds some body sick , ensuring health of the community.
    (2) Establishing "Vidya Volunteers" there, and bringing the regular teachers to schools, and ensuring proper education is given.
    (3) Spending , from His salary, an amount of one-third of His salary every month, and providing books , and uniforms for the children.

This mail, i am sending, after watching the following Video of This Great Sri Shankar Reddy garu, I wish He should be knowing about LokSatta, and also, I wish to bring about such a Great Person to You , Sri JP garu, so that You will also be very happy.
