A little about me

Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan is a physician by training, a public servant by choice, and a democrat by conviction. He joined the IAS in 1980. During his 16 years of public service in various capacities, he had many accomplishments to his credit. He is still remembered fondly by the people of the districts he once worked for. Some of his achievements include

  • Rehabilitation of 8000 youth from displaced families of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
  • Designing the reconstruction of drainage and irrigation network in Krishna and Godavari deltas.
  • Strengthening the credit cooperatives and making them independent of government control.
Dr JP was involved in formulating major policy initiatives such as developing an Info‑City in Hyderabad to facilitate the growth of the software industry. Hi‑Tec City, as we all have witnessed, has grown into one of the most prominent IT hubs of India.

In spite of an impressive personal achievement, Dr. JP’s experience in government convinced him that faulty governance process is the biggest hurdle in India’s path of progress.

In order to translate his vision into practical reality, he resigned from the IAS in 1996, and with like-minded citizens formed Lok Satta Movement in 1997. Lok Satta has now emerged as India’s leading civil society initiative for political and governance reforms with wide popular base in Andhra Pradesh.

Over the last decade, Lok Satta has significantly influenced India’s democratic evolution. Some of the milestones include:
  • Mandatory disclosure of criminal and financial antecedents of all candidates contesting for electoral office
  • Political Funding Reform
  • Size of Council of Ministers – 91st Amendment
  • Anti-defection provisions
  • Efforts aimed at making voter registration simple
  • Lok Satta’s advocacy resulted in the National Health Mission, whose objective is creating universal access to healthcare over the next decade
  • Right to Information (RTI) Act adopted by the parliament following Lok Satta's nation-wide civil society movement
  • Citizen's Charters across all municipalities of Andhra Pradesh
Dr. JP had also served on the following panels.
  • 1. The National Advisory Council (NAC) for the implementation of the National Common Minimum Programme
  • 2. Vigilance Advisory Council
  • 3. Second Administrative Reforms Commission constituted by the Government of India
Most of the critical governance and political reforms must be driven by political parties and not civil society alone. Lok Satta Party with Dr. JP as national coordinator was initiated as a citizens’ response to this challenge, to usher in a New Political Culture.

Sir, I hold you in high esteem for your concern and love for this country and people. After the likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sardar Patel, etc., we cannot remember any Indian who had shown concern and guts to speak up for India and her people's welfare the way you are doing. I am sure that this mass movement which you have started to bring reforms in the public and political system thereby restoring the true Indian values in the country will receive tremendous response from all corners of the country. All of us (people of India) owe you our support and commitment for you have taken up this gigantic task for the sake of restoring dignity of common man.

Prayers to God Almighty to bestow His blessings to you to carry out this noble cause.

  10. I looked through your manifesto and I see some gaping holes [idelogically, politically and philosophically] that need to be addressed.
Your manifesto emphasizes on 'good governance' using alternate methods or through revamping the system. It is much appreciated. However, a 'good governance' is the means for prosperity but not the end. The real world requires pragmatic solutions to attain properity which are 'ideal solutions' only by coincidence. The fact that sveral middle eastern and western countries which are 'secular', 'pluralistic' and 'free' on paper are more prosperous than India and that should tell us that a 'good governance' is neither necessarily an 'ideal governance' nor the 'end' [only the means] of prosperity. In this regard, your manifesto failed to address the issues like nationalism, cultural identity, national integrity vis-a-vis our hostile neighbors etc. while we all understand that a 'good governance' is important, but that term is as often used by Lalu as it is by the strategist PVN.

    1) Could you please address the issues regarding the defacto national slavery of Hindus?
    2) When do we stop paying Temple Jiziya?
    3) When will we have a merit oriented system [reservation free]?
    4) When will we have a Uniform Civil Code - and treat the 'self declared' minorities on par with other 'lesser' citizens of India?
    5) How will you address the cultural invasion of Christians that are largely funded by hostile govts abroad [Since Christianity doesnt belive in pluralism... please address it as a secular person and not as a pseudo secular]?
What is your stance on these issues that can potentially determine if the country will even exist in the future for people like you to give 'good governance'!

With all due respect, I would really like to know your position for the above questions.

  13. Dear Mr. Jayaprakash Narayan,

I heard about you and LOKSATTA party just three days back and I am going through all the related web sites almost every day by then. I am happy to see a party” Powered by conscience and, driven by Values”. I can reach a big network of software engineers and I already started passing the information about your party. I saw Gandhi movie just a week back again and to my surprise I came to know about you and your party three days back. I am happy to know that you started LOKSATTA party on Gandhi Jayanthi and I am glad you are inspired by his spirit. Here in US, Americans know only Gandhi and I noticed they have great respect for him. He killed the ‘madness’ in the people but I am pretty sure he died of agony and pain as he saw the violence among our own Indians. I am sure he will be at peace after seeing what you and your party started doing. ‘Uppu Satyagrag spurthitho mana desanni rakshinchukundam’. Let us save our country with Gandhiji’s spirit of Salt Satyagrah. I will do my level best to reach out people in INDIA and in US to support your movement. May GOD bless you an unlimited support to reform the scenario of the political and legal systems.

Kindly do spread the word.In our line of work, getting our message across to as many people as possible is one of our biggest goals and challenges.

  15. Dear Dr. JP and Loksatta Party,

Good to see a reply from you. I am reading each of JP’s articles and the reader’s comments. I wish to bring Gandhiji’s quote here, “The moment there is suspicion about a person's motives, every thing he does becomes tainted”. There are few questions related to JP’s relationship to Eenadu, about Margadarshi not answered yet. I believe there will be an answer soon from JP. I already posted mails to my friends in US and INDIA, and I am keep talking to them and to my surprise a lot of people already know about JP, though there never had been a discussion before. To my surprise they are not as excited as I am. Any way I am having a ray of hope and I will spread the good words about the party.

I was very much impressed and would like to help to motivate the people but after looking your stand on MARGADARSI EPISODE I changed my view on you. It’s a LITMUS TEST TO YOUR POLITIACAL PARTY. Unfortunately you also responded like other politicians who will look for their owe befit.

I am very regret to know that you are also a mere politician nothing more that that. Hope you will change your attitude in future.

I understood now that JP is another NTR in the shadow of Ramoji Rao. Good to know the true colors of him by now itself. When my friends mailed about him and LOKSATTA PARTY, I was hoping AP has a great future in the hands of JP. After going through his responses and Party’s responses, I don’t have any hope now. Now everyone hates educated people after looking at him. MAY GOD BLESS Andhra and our people.

  23. Mr Tummala & Jagadeesh

JP didn’t support Margadarshi or Ramoji group, his views are based on the best interests of public.
People in media or politics should understand that they have a responsibility to view issues on the good interests
of public n society in general.

Before JP's speech to media on the Issue..I had the good regard for Undavalli Arun kumar that he is doing right
by bringing out the real issues behind Margadarshi financiers. But unknowingly the damage that he is doing to a financial institution is staggering n unacceptable. His propaganda should have ended when he complained to Finance minister and RBI, but out of his sheer ignorance he is damaging the reputation of a financial institution thus jeopardizing the interests of lakhs of depositors of Margadarshi..Imagine if all the depositors of SBI goes in a day and withdraw their money out of rumors and false propaganda, even SBI couldn’t handle the situation and may collapse, thus leading to collapse of our economy in general.

It’s outmost important to government that financial institutions in general shouldn’t default and its depositors shouldn’t loose their hard earned money. The classic instance I can remind is when North American country Mexico is in great danger of default, American president Bill Clinton pumped 25 billion dollars to Mexico to save it from financial collapse(reference: Bill Clinton's biography book "My Life: Presidential years"), Mexican's collapse inturn should have huge impact on the health of the world economy. We need leaders who has foresight n knack to handle the crisis situations properly, else we shall have the "Power" problems that we are facing now.

JP aired his views on the best interests of public and Margadarshi depositors in general, nowhere he has taken biased views. We shouldn’t be so prejudice that since he appeared in Etv n aired his views doesn't mean that he supported Margadarshi or Ramoji group. All those guys who felt betrayed needs replay of his interview ten times I think to understand what exactly he meant on the issue.

  24. Dear Mr. Jayprakash

Are you a true social worker working for the common man, or is it just another feat to establish a new political party. After doing some research I learnt about your background, why you quit the IAS, your closeness with industrialist Mr Ramoji rao and how used his media to gain publicity.
Please don't mislead people on social service, because our fellow brothers may loose hope on our country and our politicians.

    Jai Hind!

  25. Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan's alleged views 'supporting' "Margadarsi" have been very categorically clarified by him in person in his main blog. He only wants to see to it that justice is done to the depositors, the company etc. He is sensible and is very clearly not biased towards any of the parties involved in the matter. One can't draw conclusions from the reports of a newspaper (Eenadu), which coincidentally belongs to the same group, that Dr. Jayaprakash alleged stated that there was no wrongdoing on Margadarsi's part.
Many have quit and many others upon supperannuation from the Civil Services (IAS, IPS etc.) made out a career in politics, some successfully, some otherwise. He was an IAS (a topper among them too) officer in his prime and his achievements were even take note of in some quarters. It is very obvious that he wasn't involved in any vested/murky deals unlike many of his colleagues.
One can gauge a person's character manifold times from his actions than words.
Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan was once the District Collector of Prakasam District. During this tenure the works accomplished by him weren't done by all his predecessors put together!!! During an issue relating to farmers, for which he was to interact with a central monitoring agency, he was in fact found to more involved in the matter than the concerned parties themselves!!! He was\is probably the most popular District Collector the district ever had or has.
I'm not related to him in any way nor am I a member of Lok Satta. I read many articles or reader's views here but unduly blaming somebody, to whom such activities, as alleged, can be least attributed to couldn't keep me, a mute spectator.

  27. Mr. Tummala & Jagadeesh garu,

I agree with Mr Anil kumar.

If Government of Andhra Pradesh is interested in welfare of depositors, it would peruse the solution Ramoji rao offered to sell part of his property, help him to finish his paper work quickly and get the depositors paid early and then deal with Margadarsi legally and close it if required by law. If worried about welfare of depositors, the first priority should be to get Ramoji to return money of those depositors who request it. Depositors are not interested in destroying Margadarsi. It is obvious that finding a solution or welfare of depositors is not at all an issue for Government. Man in the street knows the goal Mr Undavalli and Government.

People who suffered most from this entire saga are the middle class depositors who are spending sleepless nights and some became mentally ill due the fear injected unnecessarily and cruelly by some people. Mr. Undavalli may get a better job or Mr. Ramoji may become stronger due to this propaganda but it is inhuman to cause panic to middle class people.

What is the message the party in power is sending to media and people? I recently suggested to one of my friends who is retired and has some desire to contribute to the development of country, to join organisation such as lok Satta. He said that he likes Lok Satta but his children are in business. He believes that his children are honest but if authorities want to cause problem, it is very simple and easy to put us in troubles. He asked me if it is practically possible to run business in India and practice rules hundred percent correctly. Initially, I thought he was timid, imagining and magnifying unlikely possibilities!

    JP sir,
I am called Sunil. I am a student, age 23. First of all I want to express my joy on the establishment of Lok Satta as a political party. It is seen as a beacon of hope by those who care for the nation. I wonder I have to write an essay of 500 words to talk a little about my admiration towards you. However I like to bring to your notice more important things.

My word as a friend to those who posted in this blog with an air of despair and despise to Lok satta is that, we cannot draw a conclusion about a person in general or a party in specific just by an instance or based on an allegation. We can get a better picture looking at the work done.

I feel that a person does not need to resign from a top honoured post and rather lucrative job(if we put the ethics in the dump)to make money by establishing a party. It is so sad that we look for flaws in a person, now that we bestowed huge faith in him, and talk in disappointment. Well, as some of us said if lok satta turns out to be just another political party I would wait for another movement to begin instead of losing hope or would like to start one instead of waiting for someone.

Sir, one important thing I want to bring to your notice is the perception of Lok satta as a one man show. I had a discussion with my father this morning about your party. My father is 60, he has good faith in you but expressed his opinion that its a one man show and no strong leaders are seen. Also here in warangal, he says that Lok satta convener, Kodandarami reddy (I may be wrong with name)is not a popular figure nor is he in good faith with people. He says "if peole like these are choosen for high posts, it gives a mediocore impression on the party".

I hope you make sure that the image of party wouldnt be tainted because of such instances of wrong (probably, not sure)selection.

  37. Hi JP,
"Everyone says there is dirt but no one takes a piece of cloth to clean it" but you are exception to this. I would like to bring to two points to your notice:
    1. Many youngsters are leaving India on the name of higher studies and later settling in abroad. They are scolding our own system after going abroad. If we can stop this talent migration, we can achieve a lot in India. For replacement, we can send exsisting dirty politicians permanently (forcefully if they do not agree). They can at least feel shameful living in abroad by observing the development.
    2. When we have such a good set of principles in loksatta, we can achieve the success easily as everyone in the nation is fedup with exsisting system. Everyone is vexed up of the current system but many do not know what to do. They should know our movement and its agenda. To a great extent, I am not happy with the speed of spreading the information to the people. I am doing my best by spreading through mouth to mouth. Please speed up the process of spreading info. If we can achieve tremendous progress in one state, then it sounds in surronding states and then across the entire nation in no time. All of us need a change, a change from the exsisting players as well as rules.

I have great respect on You n Loksatta! I appriciate your efforts!! But Iam not happy about you r view on Telangana! I hope you did study about Telangana n its problems, purely its been unjustification to telanganites becouse of andhraites! , u also know how the merge(telangan n andhra) was taken into place, since its been andhra pradesh, in every matter, aspect telengana got unjustification! people r dying in telangana just bcoz of andhra polytics! i know u have great knowledge about it, why donot u support for separate telangana, Finally even Tha great BhrataRathna Abdul Kalam also supported separate telangana! pls rethink about it n do the necessary stuff! Why r u not supporting separate telangana? bcoz ur Andhraite??

can we have clear idea about it! pls come up with you r view about telangana issue as an Indian but not andhraite!

In Margadarshi issue indirectly you said ur supproting Ramoji bcoz of depositors, thats really gud , but wat about telanganites, they shown their interest in last few elections with grand result, still you want to go against their opinion??

Also i would like to remind you Abdul Kalam's speech as president on telengana..

Thanks n Look forward to hearing from you!

  48. Dear Indians,
I have seen the threads posted against JP, saying why he supported Ramoji ! He didn't support Ramoji, he pointed out the way Vundavally ArunKumar is dealing with Margadarsi issue, which clearly demonstrates he (Vundavally) is trying to prove his loyalty under YSR. And the Eenadu guys only telecasted that part of JP's thought. Here we need to blame Eenadu guys for their desperate need to bring positive thought amond public, trying to get something out of everyone & everything acting as a mere business body rather than a responsible media firm.

And please be truly responsible for our country's future and try not to feel or display the hatred based on caste, which sadly is the only common disgraceful element most of our Indians inherited since birth.

    Thanks for your time,

  49. Sir,

Please don't comment on Telangana. When they haven't seen u as a politician and just as "Andhrite" and repeatedly said that.

I urge people not to post this kind of statements "Why r u not supporting separate telangana? bcoz ur Andhraite??" here.Don't comment anything which creates regional feeling, caste feeling etc tec.

I want to remind "Anonymous" that Abdul kalam never insisited on separated Telangana he said "we will take decision on telangana at right time". And its not mandatory for every politician to comment on this issue.

  59. Helo Sir,

I have been watching Loksatta activities for long time, which are touching public heart. I would like to participate actively once I returned to India. However I would like to suggest few points.

You have been capturing assets & Liabilities of Public servants (Political leaders & Govt Employees). I am surprise to see my CM is paying less Income Tax (10% of my annual IT). The same way if you dig into politicians’ history, I am sure very few (1%) of them are paying IT properly even though they are millionaires /billionaires. Unfortunately they made money by making frauds. People like us end up spending whole time to make small house and paying IT, loan interests etc… These people will simply manipulate the govt policies, schemas and consuming public money. Hence I request you to initiate an interface (web portal) with the following features in Loksatta portal.

 All loksatta associate should able to enter their local bureaucrats’ history like employee record. It should capture their assets, liabilities, , IT returns, criminal records etc..
 You can also include an interface like Youtube where in the video clips, photos, JPEG files can be uploaded to this site. That includes the Scanned copies of all govt records of the bureaucrats.
 If this can support Telugu Font, it will be more helpful because it can reach to normal people. You can also propagate using RSS Feeds.
 You can dig old history (For ex: DR.Rajasekhar Reddy records for the last 20 years and show his growth in the wealth) and these cases can be handled with your peoples commission.

My humble request is start with few politicians, IAS officers (who made crores worth buildings in Jubliee hills with less than 30k salary) and see the reaction. If you feel it is better to try with small leaders and create fear also good. My vision in this area is very less but I would like to request you to consider these suggestions very seriously. The webportal may not take more than 2months and I sure you can count people like me for this initiation.

Please let me know your view on this approach. Please note I am ready for my active involvement

WE SHOULD SEND A MESSAGE TO EVERY ONE THAT POLITICS ARE NOT FOR MONEY MAKING.

    Regards,
    Veera babu

  60. Mr.JP spoke about Margadarshi episode was just, reasonable and unbiased. The issue was racked by Mr.Undavalli only to attract congress high command’s attention and to secure himself politically. It is obvious that the depositors of Margadarshi have reposed full faith in Mr.Ramoji Rao, otherwise thing would have been different. I leant from newspapers that Mr.Ramoji Rao has issued deposit certificates to all depositors in his capacity as the Kartha of his HUF.Which implies that he is directly responsible to repay every single deposit. He can be sued personally by any depositor. I don’t think any individual representing any FI in the world is personally liable under the law of their respective lands. I fail to understand, why people who have not deposited in Maragadarshi are making a hue and cry, when the depositors themselves are feeling safe and going about their life normally. On the face of it, it appears that, as Mr.Ramoji Rao writes against congress party in his Eenadu Mr.Undavalli ET el are targeting him albeit in a foolish way to say the least.

Thanks a lot for redefining the word " Politics" which has become a derogatory term instead of being a noble one. I think Dr.JP can do more good right now and try to clean things up as much as he can before going to electoral politics. I am in USA and very impressed with the work Loksatta is doing. What i have really enjoyed after listening to him is the clarity of his thoughts to analyse the past, present and an equal emphasis on the solutions. I would really like to be a part of loksatta movement. Kindly advice me how.

It leaves me an impression that LOKSATTA is also travelling in the same direction as our age-old parties have done and continue to do ,to strive for votes of Muslims at the cost of National Security..
I am a firm believer that the first priority should be given to National Security since every citizen can act responsibly only when they are given security..

  69. Dear Dr JP , LSP members and all other learned readers of this blog,

I am one of the appreciators and supporters of the LokSatta I would like to post some of my views.

Can we have a public reply to some of the posts ? For eg:

a)I will be very happy to take part in your efforts. I am postdoc currently located in USA. please share your opinion how people outside india can serve their part.
b)I as a citizen of india would like to be involved in your efforts to bring reforms in the political system which the country desperately needs. But as in USA, am confused as to how me and our friends can take part in it. Kindly suggest me. (from Kalyan October 16 )

    c) Issues questioned by MK Sonti on Nov 15
November 24, 2006 there was a reply from JP saying”
All specific questions will receive a reply shortly”
I am posting this on Jan 17th, 2008 May I request to have the answer to be posted here so that larger audience will get a chance to know them?
harsha (architectharsha@rediff.com) on June 10th asked
" as of u, your party stands all above caste system" so what is the necessity of including details of caste system in your party application form.”
It was reiterated in Raghav Pyaraka’s post on Sept 19th
    What was the reply?
On Aug 27th there was a post from an anonymous
“Many youngsters are leaving India on the name of higher studies and later settling in abroad. They are scolding our own system after going abroad. If we can stop this talent migration, we can achieve a lot in India.
What is the future vision of Loksatta regarding this?
On May 20 there was a post from an anonymous
“one important thing I want to bring to your notice is the perception of Lok satta as a one man show. He says "if peole like these are choosen for high posts, it gives a mediocore impression on the party".”
In one of the places JP mentioned “Nearly 200,000 reform minded citizens have already become party members; chapters have been established in every district and most towns of AP. “
So how many of them are real leaders and what is the special leadership training that is being given to them. For a pilot to run an aircraft certain minimum number of flying hours is mandatory. So what sort of leadership training and how many mandatory hours are the LSP leaders getting? What mock assignments are given them to think of ways of changing the existing situation?

Based on what I heard it is also running on voluntary participation of leaders so the real cream will be as usual concentrating on money earning/fetching jobs or business, leaving one more political party to some body wishing to spend the free time without any potential leadership qualities or training. Can we have the details of people who are training the future leaders?

In one of the quotes, JP says that he settled the Visakha Steel plant Land owners grievances more meaningfully. He mentioned that he made the people train to acquire the skills needed to join the steel plant. So what quality training is being imparted in the Leadership training programmes? Are they getting quality training to be leaders or LSP members?

On Dec 10, Veera babu mentioned about a web portal with details of the political leaders assets. What is the vision of LSP on this any positive response? Can we expect the same from LokSatta leaders? Then how can they be compensated for all the voluntary hours they had spend or are spending in the party office?

On Dec 13 DNS wrote “" Politics" which has become a derogatory term instead of being a noble one. I think Dr.JP can do more good right now and try to clean things up as much as he can before going to electoral politics

One of the quotes from JP in one of the places in the party web portal reiterates the same

“I recently suggested to one of my friends who is retired and has some desire to contribute to the development of country, to join organisation such as lok Satta. He said that he likes Lok Satta but his children are in business. He believes that his children are honest but if authorities want to cause problem, it is very simple and easy to put us in troubles. He asked me if it is practically possible to run business in India and practice rules hundred percent correctly. Initially, I thought he was timid, imagining and magnifying unlikely possibilities “

So what is the realistic approach to make it a dignified and lucrative career? In one of the telugu movies the hero after coming back from US goes to all party offices and the conversation represents the true picture of Indian political parties.
Why is Gandhi brought into picture evrytime?

Gandhi (personally I am frenetic about Gandhi and his philosophy) is not a successful leader. You call someone successful only if he can spread or make people practice what he taught. What use is to make people listen to you halfheartedly and dishonest to your policies or principles taught by you?
[By the way which party is the true representative of the party he supported? The present congress is not the Gandhian representative but Indira Gandhi’s and her ancestral property. That is how the leaders in Congress behave.]
So are you using the name of “Gandhi” to get the support from people ? Is it not a something to be pondered as to why we are not having a better leader than Gandhi even after so many years? What new strategies is LSP going to have to change this scene?
Dhirubahi Ambani’s group of campanies is taken to better heights by his sons, why the sons or daughters from the leaders of political parties not able to become better than their fathers/mothers?
Can we have a debate on this with better ideas in a citizen-friendly civilized manner (no emotional “for and against” JP or LSP) that can lead to altering public and political attitudes on the derogatory image of Politics?
What happened to Loksatta Movement? Has it been given a second seat? I think as an independent movement Lok Satta would have contributed much to the society.
This can reiterate the belief in many minds like me about future prospects of Indian scenario

    Ramadevi Godugula

  72. Mr.JP,
I have taken your party primery membership along with my wife. in fact, it was a sudden impulse, while purchasing vegetables in local market in Malkajgiri, I have done this. After analysing my actions, I felt the reason for this is that I feel left out from this whole political process till date even though the constitution of India gives me a right to be a part of it.I am an Ex- serviceman and have rejoined the Railways and as per the rules cannot take any active part in politics. Unfortunately, these rules were made by the British Govt. in those days and even after independence the same are being continued basically with a motive of suppressing any resistance to the government, in the guise of conduct rules.
Apart from this, I could vote only once in my life time, even though I am reachng fifty years. When I went for voting before last elections, the vote was already cast and the electoral officer was not ready to accept my complaint.Second time, even though I and my wife were issued voter I.D.Cards there was no name in the voters list. Even now I do not have a fresh voter identity card as it was not issued to me till date even after submitting required photos and application.
I sincerely wish and request you to kindly concentrate on these basic things and advise us the correct way of addressing these problems and help to fight for our basic rights like getting a voter I.D. so as to use our right at the time of elections. I feel that the best way for this is to ask the local area representatives to form teams to do house to house survey and give us advise and guidence so that we can make rightful demand with the administration to perform there duties properly. Further,I sujjest to make small group inter actons with members at local street level or colny level meetings by some core members so as to create an awareness in people, particularly the educated ones, to come out of the shell and not to leave the country to local goons and thugs to spread anarchy.
I hope you understand my anguish and frustration of being a mute spectator and watching silently the way the country is being shredded by these so called political parties.I wil be thankful to you Sir,if you can kindly spare your precious time to help and guide me to be really a part of this country by choice.
wishing you all the best &Thanking you,
    yours sincerely ,

  74. Sir,
I have small thought to share with you.Every action happens twice, once in the mind and then through the sense organs. If our thought is pure then our actions are pure.Media is the powerful source to influence the thoughts of human beings. But media is not highlighting the positive things happening .....please go through the following speech by our former president Abdul Kalaam (Which you might have read already).

" Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why???

We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit.
There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.

I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place.
The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid
and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.

In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime. Why are we so
    NEGATIVE? "

Above mentioned Iserali incident is heart touching and inspiring, is it not?.Just think of Hiroshima and Nagasaki how they have recovered after the Atomic Blast. Now they are well developed. Why aren't we?.Development in the above nations highlight the power of positive thought.Positive thought can be perceived only through looking, hearing and speaking positive happening around us.Did you like to see a blood, death, attacks, encounters, rape scenes as soon as you get up from bed? Obviously no right? If our day starts with positive thoughts, you will be energetic & enthusiastic the whole day.Hence Media is inducing negative thoughts into our brains which will not help us to develop and we cant see a developed INDIA.

Since we being the constituents of this Nation, let us join hands and send Get Well Soon Cards to all the newspaper editors until they start printing positive happenings. Please collect as many addresses as you can. These are some of the email ids of News Papers(in Andhra Pradesh)..

Whole system of western education is to sell there idealogies, there process. We are today worst slaves to US or Western system than the time we are ruled by British. We represent completly them our dreams are to leave like them or with them.Everyone is forgetting what the beatiful life so far people had in India not even worrying about money.I doubt people will have life any more.We are just talk about money and work for money.Even barbaric kings never forced on people to beleive on something and work on that.Laws becoming strict, forcing people to leave according to westerns and protect there ideologies.Good thing is to do is people have freedom.Even from dressing, talking, implementing everything we follow today as per westerns There is nothing original or related to origins.Whoever can interact in western way will be treated like a lord. And everyone behaves like that.Have your getup related to our origins.I see today in Andhra there is nothing restored in Archeology wise.Any individual studying telugu medium is treated like worst person than who doesn't have education.Thats the fateEvery place I visited I do understand how much people have individuality and how politicians have respect for ourself.I know that we are ruled by 1000yrs by different people.Atleast with comforts we have we can develop ourselfs. You all are behaving there is nothing to be pride of ourself and I can lead you western life We are advancing our steps in cvoncrete jungle.Which is going to make our life worst than animal life. You talk to lawyer/doctor how much subject they have and how they sell than have real knowledge..Any person who is really proud of himself and his origins never they manipulate our people to follow westerns who thinks they are advancing our lifes and we owe them. They are making us slaves in a new way.Imaginge your dressing! And what do you represent regarding Andhra? What educatiuon facilities we have for more than 1000yrs?You are one of the best slave for western who is making more & more people follow them.I have no words to say to the people who are educated in India they just work as better sales persons.Either they have settle in US or be biggest representative of this westerns and make us slaves to them

  76. Dear Sir,

I am one of the very strong supporter of Lok Satta, where my contribution towards the party is not only I am voting, but also I am encouraging my friends, family members to vote for our Lok Satta party.(Of course it is my duty to see our country as corruption free country).

I hope it would have already come to your notice regarding current Government biggest scam ie, Building Penalisation Scheme where in government getting money from Fraud builders (encouraging them still to build the same) and also they are charging innocent buyers on the same. In this whole issue every one knows that it is not the mistake of buyer who does relay on bank approval where in bank sends the officer to the location to see that every thing correct according to rules. Then customer buys that if bank gives the approval. Then how come buyer is being charged in this?

So really I am wondering how the correction is taking place in this issue.

I kindly request you sir to bring this issue forward, of course as I am also responsible as a citizen I will also do my level best to bring this to my friend circle.

    Thank you sir...JAI HIND,

    Regards
    Kailash

  77. What is your / your party's view on CDS scheme started by AP state government for building regularization. If you feel that builders should be punished, am sorry to say my builder is your party member (Miyapur, Hyderabad). What action you can take against him.If you cannot, we have to feel like your party is more or less like others, supported by money of builders / industrialists.

    Thanks

  78. Dear Jp,
Eventhough i am not a member of your party i have got great respect for you as i can see good human being.
Leaving aside the humanity now a days politics are so dirty in india. It may be very difficult to people like you to win in elections. But as korean people say go on hammering even biggest bridges will collapse in a life time.
I want to add some points which i feel are very much required for indian society immeidiatly. If you were chosen by people please keep in mind.

    1. Remove recognisation of religion and caste system from official system. Only recognise economically weak people who deserve help from people tax paid money. This definatly make people integrated instead of present political division of people at every stage from birth.

    2. Farmers does't need subsidies or mercy from govt they need self respect and open market price for thier produce not any dirty politicians alms.

    3. Comman man should not be taxed heavily at 30 percent instead reduce tax to 5 to 7 percent and recognise tax evaders as criminals and apply criminal procedures.

  79. Hi all few Gentlemen of Telangana

I could read many a number of blogs hitting hard on JP and on other telugu people on Telangana issue.

    The criticism goes like this..
Telangan is suffering because of Anddhra people and Andhra people are takinf off the food from telanga.

Just this is stupid to say..
Have you all spend few houns in your life on the hitroy of Telangana and Andhra (....?telangana is not in Andhra pradsh....?)

You all want every one confine to his birth 16 or 17 century birth place, eat if get or die if not.

just look around the world and within you. Andhra people are not from Africa, America or even from neighbouring Tamilanadu. They are part of the telugu soil. While everyyone in the India, Marthis, Gujarthis, Tamils etc. have the right and please of living whereever they want in Telugu soil,
why our own telugu people, who were born on just on the other bank of Krishna...?

Many of you biased critics are enjoying S/W jobs in Bangalore, Bombay, Chennai, US; ENGLAND etc..
If peopple of these regions ask you telangana peofessionals (I have highest regards from Telangana people even now and for ever) leave their land , what is your response...?
If you say that Andhra people are cheaters and robbing the Telangana air,
why you all going out of Telanga .. ARE NOT NOT ROBBING ROSOURCES AND JOBS OF OUTSIDE TELANGANA.....?

Dont let failure, laziness, and cruel intetions spoil the spirit of Nationalism..

While I am not from Telangana, I support the formation of two or more states of of present Andhra pradesh, which naturally includes Telangana. Again my views are not based on the heels of your foolsh statemets and thoughts. It is to be dibur or trifurcated to increase the responsibility of the Government, pressing inefficient and corrupt politicians and for a beeteradministration that increases competence of the people.

Just we need to divinde our AP as like brothers in a family and not like INDIA-PAKISTHAN.

Before making your ugly statements on other people of Andhra Pradesh,
just get to know firsthand on the rural and lives of common people, and not your visuals of Politicians, Job holders or Industries...
You may surprise to see the similar miseries of people as like, if you felt, in Telangana.

Summing up: Peoples lives are similar in all parts of AP and only Politicians, irrespective of regions or castes , are the robbers of AP pride and food.
Just be wise nd observe your own local MLAs and MPs to know why telangana was behind the race.

I once again stress the need for smaller states in India.

    Hi Sairaj,

I am pleased with your enthusiastic and passionate tone in your note asking why the media in India is so negative. But I think there are two sides to the coin. If the media doesnt hunt down criminals and make it known to the people of india, crime will go unnoticed and imagine how destructive that can be! In a poor and developing country like India, criminals and perputators of our judiciary system think they can get away easily. I think its the medias duty to its readers to expose these scoundrels and thieves. Seeing pictures of bombblasts and poverty puts a fire in my belly to do everything in my capacity to act against it and that is how I start my day in a positve note. I think instead of being negative of this kind of media coverage, you should also see it in positive light. It is not the media that is making us start our day on a negative note. It is upto you and only you if you want to start your day in a negative or positive note. So, its only upto you to start your day positively by garnerning the encouragement to fight for justice from what you see in the front page.

It is very much rooted in our Indian culture to blame someone else and to point fingers on others. We dont acknowledge the ditches and downsides of our culture, but instead we find every opportunity to praise Indian culture and downplay other cultures. Instead it is time that we stand up and reconcile our differences and take what is best from all cultures and move on.

Regards and good luck to you

    SUBJECT: YOUR IDEAS ON RESERVATION
    Hello Dr.JP,
Before I get into the subject I want you to know that I am a staunch devotee of ur political agenda and without out a doubt agree to the fullest on most of your opinions.
I have been following ur speeches for a while and I must mention that ur quite an orator.
Now getting into the subject that I would like to question you on -Reservations, I have been actually listening to and analyzing in depth
all ur speeches and I must admit that ur ideologies are really praiseworthy.
Now recently I was watching ur interview on the program in tv5( i believe it is called jp ee prajala paksham)and heard u supporting an idea which would give 10% weight age in marks to backward classes and i am not convinced with that and believe me this is the only thing in ur political agenda i am not convinced with and i will give u my reasons.I hope to get a reply from you because ur the kind of person who would make a mark on any individual's life and that individual would want a detailed clarification from an intellectual like u if he thinks that there is one idea where u have not been clear enough.
Alright here goes my argument, lets get down to the basic mechanism of studying for an exam (let's say EAMCET). Mechanistically wat would studying comprise of -u take a topic
say cardiovascular system you go through it and there are 2 things here understanding the subject and being able to reproduce it.you need brains to understand a topic and u need will power and method to be able to reproduce it (in other words trying to repeat wat u read everyday so that u wont forget it)
now where does the background of a person (Caste or financial) come into picture here.If anybody is backward financially or otherwise and still has the brains
he should not be charged for his education ,give him free education but y would u give him percentage.
Now is it somebody's fault that they are financially well or is it somebody's fault that they are from a forward community-they might have put in equal effort for the exam and in this context how would u justify giving percentage to somebody just because he is backward.Being backward has nothing to do with a brain's capability to understand and reproduce material in the textbook.(If you notice there is a paradox here while people on one hand say that Caste has nothing to do with Brains,on the other hand they want reservation for a lower caste, how is this justified knowing that the basis to score in an exam is brain and hardwork) While lending financial support is 100% understood how is lending the intellingence, hardwork, and willpower of other students to make up for backwardness of any sort justified?
    Especially in a competitive world.
Lets say X is from a well off family and starts studying for eamcet and he as the motivation, willpower, intelligence, hardworking nature and whole 9 yards to score a 190/200 in Eamcet which is cut off to secure a medical seat.and lets say there is a Y who is not well off and an ST but his intellingence and hardwork are such that he can score only 181.Now adding those 10 points to Y how on earth is it justified.Wat is the difference between X and Y academically.
My point is Caste or Money is not the tool to understand Newton's Laws, brains and hardwork are.
How come ur idea of giving marks to
a poor guy or a backward guy is justified?
Now if any, trying to give everybody
similar conditions to put in the required effort was ur argument I would have gone with it but instead of improving the conditions where in a person can put focussed effort ur suggesting to give percentage in marks. I dont think they are exchangeable with respect to the output because we cannot guarantee that given favourable conditions Y would score like X because to score, conditions are not the limiting factor but individual academic capability is.
I am sure that you have definitive opinions and logical explanations for this I just wanna hear it from you so that I can say with 100% conviction that ur the man instead of 99%.
Let me say again that I am still 99% with you on other issues.
I hope to hear from you.
Once again please consider this as a question from an amateur thinker that needs to be clarified rather than an opposition to ur views from an arrogant youngster.
I am hoping that I expressed myself with clarity and I know that there might be some shortcomings in the manner I expressed, but do accept my apologies.
I tried to pose my question within the best of my capabilities.
Once again hoping to get a reply from you.
    Thanks

    Hi JP,
I am glad to reach your blog.
I was reading comments on this blog..praising you for your ideas towards cleaner politics.
But, everyone is forgetting that you are a common man and you are pretty much like other politicians.

Recently I was reading your paper statements promising to give some 100 seats for BCs and 80 seats to women. This means you want our countrymen to fight for caste and religions and you promote them like other politicians.
why don't you think of restructuring our reservation system based on economic status rather than caste.
    Coming to TELANGANA issue..
you comment Telangana backwardness is due to it's own leaders and not by others. Why don't you look at reality, people of Telangana are fighting for their developmental cause and separate state will solve their issues for water and funds. Being a IAS officer you better know about history than me, Telangana was prosperous and flourishing before merging with Andhra having surplus budget while Andhra had deficit budget and now figures have changed and situation is totally opposite. I don't ask you to support Telangana same time don't make any comments against people's sentiment.

You are trying to work away from realities.

I think with these two points you won't deserve to be treated as a person seeking a clean and healthy politics.

    Hope common man understands...

(If my comment is not approved, please do not maintain this blog)

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I am from Hyderabad and from one of those who wants to see Loksatta Party in power in 2009 elections. I am happy that many of them are taking part in this movement.
As a word of mouth is a best advertisement, i keep telling every one to utilize their right to VOTE and VOTE for right candidate (i.e Loksatta party).

I feel that most of the people are not aware of the political system. For example, every MP & MLAs, will be given corpus fund to utilize for the development of their constituency which they would never do. In spite of that people will simply follow their leaders because of unrealistic promises. Money required to fulfill these promises will again be generated from areas which will affect common people (middle class mostly).

Recently, APIIC, the nodal agency for creating industrial infrastructure in the state, is now working on targets to raise funds through land auction to feed various government schemes.

There are many other aspects which are not known to most of the people. I think it would be better if you create more awareness in the people by informing all these types of vital information.

It would be better to make a powerpoint presentation (Soft copy of your campaign) and start an email chain. With in no time, it would reach many of the IT guys. If atleast one person in a family is convinced with your party ideologies, I am sure; he would explain and convince every one in the family. Please start using electronic media (internet) extensively for your election campaign also so that it would reach many people with in short span.

I wish you all the best

  91. Help cleansing the Political System
    Dear Strong seekers of change,

I would like to take this oppurtunity to inform you about the kind of resources required for building a new political culture. Before that let me introduce my self. I am Kishore Kancherla working as s/w eng and I take pride in introducing myself as an activist in LokSatta Party.
Many of you might know about Lok Satta Party and its agenda. LokSatta is trying to build a new political culture for new genaration. New political culture is required because, we cannot build a first world economy with third grade leadership.

With third grade leadership we face problem like

1)Corruption and bad governance which rob people of equal opportunities.2)Quality education and affordable healthcare remain dreams for most citizens for ever. 3)Justice takes decades and is inaccessible to ordinary citizens.4)Roads are crumbling, power outages are frequent, and clean drinking water is scarce.

In short, politics became big business for those who want to fleece the public.

Traditional political parties view people as mere voting machines in flesh and blood, instead of as living and breathing human beings. Such exploitative and utterly corrupt politics must give way to a new political culture – one in which the citizen is supreme. Politics must once again be a noble endeavour.
To build up such an a political culture we need resources like Human resources, intelectual inputs, financial resources etc..

I would like to stress on need of financial resources LSP(LokSatta Party) has.
Lok Satta Party will need only a fraction of what traditional parties spend for their campaigns and elections, we still have to raise significant resources to mount a credible challenge and convert public good will into vote. Making financial contributions and raising resources is critical to transform the present political culture.
Please donate to LSP by following below link

  93. JP Sir,
I used to think about political problems and try to find out some solutions. But unfortunetly i dont have many friends discuss those things.
I will try to put my ideas here.
    1. Using Technology for transparency in Prajaswamyam
At present the elections are meant for electing politicians but not for electing the solution of a problem. Of course its politician’s responsibility to find out better solutions for people’s problems. Election is one time process (Best case) in every five years. What if elected guy don’t care about people’s problems? What if he takes wrong decisions willingly or unwillingly? What should people say? People have right to elect but not to reject in a span of five years? So my solution is Every post office will have ATM kind of voting machine. And this machine recognizes every person in that village by thumb impression. Whenever there is a problem (Eg: Should Telangana be a separate State? Remember only for just a single problem, there were sub-elections conducted last month. Don’t you think this kind of situations will repeat?) Let people go there and vote for it. There will be enough documentation should be supplied on this problem to each and every person through media and pamphlets. Let an independent group of scholars prepare them. Instead of just giving yes or no options give more options (Eg: Need more development in telangana but not a separate state). For illiterates, there will be provision for voice enabled service to read out the options. In this way not only there will be a transparency on a particular problem but also the politician knows about people’s expectations.
    2. Forcing politicians to be more responsible
Every person should have right to raise about his problem (Eg: Garbage is not cleared by municipality or Need better road in front of his street or More dogs creating noise night time or worst drainage system that stinks or Still no action on earlier reported problem & need explanation etc). There should be a provision through internet. Every body should have access on that website and should be recognized through his thumb impression. When somebody raised an issue it should be displayed to everybody including all politicians of different parties. MLA’s performance will be decided based upon how many requests he handled properly. And its individual’s responsibility to give feedback upon getting service from respective department.

Just wanted to share some of my ideas

    Thanks
    Subhash

  94. 3. Be more decent while communicating with people
I don’t like loksatta pointing any individual politician. I have seen in many of your articles in loksatta times magazine criticizing CBN and YSR for their worst promises to people. Instead of specifying their names, you should have told TDP or congress. Criticize a Party for its policy but not a person. Otherwise there will be no difference between Loksatta and other parties. Just CBN is not TDP. Just YSR is not Congress. Let’s introduce decent politics and make the difference.

Please let me know your/party's email ID. I hope loksatta opens each and every mail in their inbox. And please also acknowledge the meaningful emails. sothat people trust that you are really hearing them.

I am 26. I want to resign my job and come down india to work for loksatta. Do you provide salary for that? Atleast for living expenses. I think i have enough savings to not much worry about my family. Initially i thought, i can serve people just being indiviual. But soon understood its better to be with a party. And the reason why i want to join Loksatta is beacause i did not get reply from other parties for this similar kind of mail.

I did masters in CSE no where touched politics in my education. but good in managing people, eshtablishing good relations with them, understanding their problems, thinking at root level and logically finding the solutions. I am good in team work.

To be frank, i can deal only with the local problems upto a district level. Can not go above that because of lack of experience and exposure on state issues. But i am sure, i can extend myself to that level as my experience grows.

Please reply me, what you think. And remember i must be paid for my services.
If you dont need one like me, even then please do reply your rejection with reason.

  98. Team Loksatta,

    Top of the Day.

Firstly, Congratulations for the response for the Citizens had rewarded.
If we are thinking on Democratic Values where is democracy in India. No Political Party in our Nation is Campaigning with out the regional Values, Caste & religious factors.

Sir, Please do consider the facts:

Do Indians really need reservations on Caste & religious basis?
Why should there be significance to under scored citizens in educational Institutions, Jobs, Promotions & Political Participation?
Where are these politicians getting funds to award various schemes and subsidies?
Can the politicians give a balance sheet or project of fund management before announcing the schemes?
Why should the tax payers alone be paying more taxes?
Where is Quality Education at affordable cost?
Why not Consider Support for OBC’s Rather than Reservation?
How Small should be a State and on what basis?

    Assumed Results:
India shall be fighting on social grounds rather than Technological grounds!!!
All Indians will be educated for census but shall be loosing morals!!!
Reservations shall be claimed for Criminal of backward classes and minorities!!!
Only Criminals and those who can take there assistance will be able to have a square meal!!!
Inflation shall be high and cost of basic needs shall be out of reach for the majority of the population!!!
States on the basis of caste, religion!!! (which is already in process)

    INDEPENDENCE WAS NOT ATTAINED
SO AS THAT THE POLITICIANS GAIN

LETS FIGHT FOR COMMON JUSTICE AND
UNIFORM CIVIL CODE FOR EVERY CITIZEN

    LETS WORK EFFORTLESSY FOR PEACE

    Dr. JP sir,

If you compare the technological changes and awareness in the people from 50 years back to current day there is a tremondous improvement. Now people are educated and they have the capability to think what is correct and what is wrong, good/bad etc.

People in AP/India got frustrated with the dirty politics. Every govt office bribe and corruption.

One major concern is like one of the guyz spoke earlier in this blog that this country has everything to be the best in the world. But only due to corruption, it is not getting in to light.

All the educated guyz are looking to go abroad and serving other nations. Why that talent is not flourished here.

One more major problem in this country is reservations. I have seen some people in this country who are not willing to work hard and do proper education due to the fact that they are careless and have a confidence that how ever they study they will get seats and jobs in the govt etc. Why do we encourage reservations? Is still in India do we need reservations? I truly understand the necessity of that when they were started. But what about now? This is one of the major drawbacks of India.

This is the anguish of a citizen of India who want to see Indian flag as the top amongst the world flags.

And I have no doubt that you are the only one person (true Indian son) who can achieve this. And I wish all the best to build a better India!

How can we actually contribute from here eventhough our hearts yearn to Return India . Help and guide us as how to maintain the balance between upliftment of our family and the society financially, emotionally etc without hurting the balance of the other.

Want to be part of the work u r doing but am taken back thinking of the filth and high handedness undertaken by people opposing the reform needed for the political class.

    Respected JP Sir,

I was watching your interactive program on TV when you were talking about "govt sponsered alcoholism" I have two questions here.. 1. How can we control the after effects if liquor is banned like increase in usage of narcotics and pshychotropics? 2. How will the revenue be compensated? Response from your team is highly appreciated!! Thank you and best of luck!

hi,this is vijay. this is an interesting future plan you have there. but you are going to need more helping hands in AP. help should come from the people who are not yet corrupted by the system. i hope you know who i am talking about,in respect to the current election and new comming parties status. try taking their help. you might need it.

we are aware of your struggle for restoration of true democracy and corruption-free govt.

We appreciate your tenacitry, persistance and wish you you good luck in your endeavour. Our Hearty greets to you in this regard.People may discourage that you cannot root out corruption with one stroke of a pen, but we can suggest you ways , where you can do the same more effectively.

If you have the courage, we can come forward. No, it is not about killing the corrupt or sending them exile. we are not maoists either. so goodluck.

    Dear JP,
I believe that the current political system is corrupting the youth who are the backbone of future India. We all (majority of our society)know that it's time for people power and welcome it. But, someone with required credentials had to come forward to put that implicit thought into an explicit operation. I respect you as a real-life hero and I am happy that people started to love Loksatta party and its agenda!! Many I know information on how to become a member of Loksatta party? I could not find any info regarding membership on party's website.
    All the best!

    Respected Jaya Prakash Narayan garu,
I am a PhD student in
Food Science from UK. I really like your views about our country and how we can bring changes in it to make it much better. This following comment must be quite monotonous for you by now, but still I would like to say that you are a great human being with excellent upbringing thoughts about our country and very dynamic personality that our Indian politics needs at the moment. Please make it possible that in coming near future Lok Sathha Party
becomes the ruling party. Awareness about the party in a broad spectrum is required.
May be by clubbing with some student associations might make this possible, since students have that capacity to convince others and also will have the sense of dedication towards the principles which they believe in. Though I am residing in UK I would like to participate in the expansion of Lok Sathha Party countrywide and help the needed, so would you kindly let me know about the possible methods by which I can do my service for the Party. People who are born and brought up in India but live in other countries also do have true patriotic feeling for our country and would like to do some sensible service for it. I hope that my wishes would fulfill by working with/for Lok Sathha Party. Thankyou ever so much sir.

  108. Dear JP Sir,

I have had inspired a lot from your "Neti Bharatham" article in eenadu on every Monday and became a great fan of yours.
I have been following Loksatta Movement closely wherever I go.

I came to know from recent news paper articles that you have been trying to make alliance with Chirunjeevi's new party when it comes.
If it is true I will welcome that and its good decision too.
I also came to know that from the same source many current politicians who are wishing to get better position(?) also interested to join with Chirunjeevi's political party.
If it is the case how can we make difference than others. What I mean to say is that, the politician's who are clean image only should be allowed to join in the party who are thinking to change the system.
Not everybody else. Then only, it is possible to make whatever you said "Kotha Rajakeeyam".
Otherwise it is just another repeat step of 1977(Janata Party).Do you have any control on this part of the game?
I heard some of the worst politician son's and brothers are joining the Chiru's party.
For example one of Rayalaseema's Minister, who has became richest person not only the region level but also in the state level
just because od his political corruption.
His son and brother are wishing to join Chiru's party.
If this kind of people are going to be join with Chiru's party and if you are thinking to make alliance with them, what difference can we make?
If it is the case cant you think just players are changing in the game than the game rules? I will be very happy if I see some of the views against this thought process even there are some ifs and buts.
I also would like to ask Chirunjeevi how can he achieve his goal when keeping such kind people in his party.
I know it is too much to ask even before announcement of new political party.
But one thing I want make sure that we dont want change current ideology to just come in to the power.
I will be happy if some one make sure that!

    Sincerely,
    Ameer Baba.
    Software Engineer, USA.
P.S: There are lots of persons like me in USA who wish to do some thing for Loksatta.
Please let us know how can we partcipate and help Loksatta in reaching its goal and ideology to people of Andhra.

People like Manda Krishna are moving fast into the people by taking up the issues like 'Free heart surgery' to the poor children , 'Hike in the Pension of Physically handicapped' etc. why dont you a take up some good issue and move into the people effectively so that as a party you will get credibility and faith of people , which is very helpful in achieving the part agenda and objectives.

Although Gandhiji is alive in our hearts, we could see Him through the persons like you. I regularly watch your programmes (interviews, talkshows, etc.) on TV. I am interested to do some service to people through LSP. Lastly, I want to personally meet you, if you could oblige, Sir. As you rigthly said, India needs reforms in its governance - A corrupt free governance. The other day, on a TV show, you opined that giving bribe for petty works (for birth certificate, as you said) is not offence, which I do not agree. No bribe must be given to any person, even for a petty job. Could you please clarify Sir. I wish to have a copy of LSP's manifesto launched on 26.7.08,if you could kindly e-mail to me.

  115. Dear Dr JP,
In mid-seventies, your namesake - the senior JP tried his best to change the family rule in India. The first non-Congress Janata Party Government headed by Morarji Desai (1977-79) raised many hopes but fizzled out very soon in 1979 despite several stalwarts at the helm of affairs. After trials and tribulations, again Atal Behari Vajpayee's Government in 1999-2004 took us to twenty-first century while India was shining and Feel Good factor was at its peak. Some how, the Congress turned it to its advantage and UPA is now ruling at centre without delivering any thing great or different. We have to wait and see the outcome of next elections in 2009 (or before!)

In AP Congress, TDP, TRS, BJP, Communists, Devender Gowd and recently Chiranjeevi's group are all vying to come to power in 2009. The issues of Telangana, Naxalism, Corruption, Nepotism, etc are at their high. Development is not the plank but catching the vote bank through short cuts is being attempted. Do you think it is advisable for Lok Satta also to stake its claim by joining the mainstream of elections or keep away and fight for social justice and do some community work? Entering the Assembly with five to ten MLAs and sit in opposition does not serve the purpose. Recently, in Karnataka/Bangalore, electorate have not recognised the Lead India candidates and some IIT-Grads who made an attempt.

Your voice is heard now in so many platforms and media for the clean background you have. I would sincerely urge upon you not to get into murky politics and regret later. Instead, please carry out social work in a dedicated way and deliver goods. Trust I am not discouraging you, but being a person from Andhra and seen about five decades of life, I thought I can share my views thro the blog. OK Best Wishes - Chowdari Prasad

I would like to say that so called MEDIA is becoming important reaching every home of our state. So please do something to make your speeches are aired on all the channels.Pplease organise many programs in colleges where students in many colleges are involved and participate in escalating and solving local issues.

80% of the professional employees in cities are not voting, because they dont have voter IDs and are not interested. please let your party organize some question answer sessions in corporates, colleges.

I know that you already know these things. but i am just making a little contribution to reinforce your ideas.

  123. Hello JP Sir,
I would like to know your personnel income sources and assets.
I know that it is not a good habit to ask any person regarding his income sources. But I think you are transparent, and as you are in politics you have to answer this question at any point of time.
I know that you resigned your job. So you don’t get any pension. I wonder how you are satisfying your family needs.
There is a proverb in Telugu "ఇంట గెలిచి రచ్చ గెలువు", which means.. if a person is happy at home, then only he can perform well or help others.
These days cost of living is increasing. Let's take an IT employee, who earns 50K PM and lives in a city, is not happy. Because he has to pay EMI(25K to 30K PM) for his loans and he has to provide good education(15K to 2K PM,if he has 2 kids) for his children. Education is becoming costlier. His monthly expenses may be around 10K. And his life is not lavish. I wonder how you are satisfying your family.
I hope you answer my question.
    Thanking you,

    I have a few suggestion

    1) Try to get the e-mail ids of various students.(College Wise). [ Btech, BSc and all other levels ]. Send them mails stating the party's objective. Ask them to forward the mail
    to people who they know.
[Spamming] . Allocate one person for emailing to various people. Flood your ideas to people through email.
    2) Donations: NRI's should be your primary target. Send them videos of your ideology, speeches. Impress them.
    3) Try to upload more videos of your meetings, talks on Youtube. There are very few videos of your speeches on youtube.
    4) Media coverage - Try to gain more media coverage
    5) Target universities and educational institutions. - Meet students, teachers and spread your ideas.
    6) Effective use of networking sites like Orkut to spread information about the party and its ideology

  127. Dear JP,

Given the new demographic changes and shifts occurring in the AP political scenario, in what way lok satta is going to approach the common man of AP without help from already established parties or newly launched parties with huge fanfare. Have you considered collaborating with other parties like newly launched parties like prajarajyam. Its unfortunate that common man from AP is still fantasized by the glamor power and short sighted election promises from political leaders, but this is the world we are living in and we have to accept it. I hope you make sure you will become MLA this time for the sake of people of AP and help to bring change even in one constituency. Its just a win-win situation for you party, your collaborative party and the people of andhra pradesh.

    Fight against Terrorism

    This is Anil
Here so many innocent people are dying. for nothing but madness.
we are all victims of this madness. but we must not prolong this to our next generation
please post your comments and ideas against this.

First of all clean your home ( INDIA ) and talk about others. There is a possibility to do this if we follow... these 10.

    1. Spot birth registration with SSN ( like in US )

    2. No admission in school no treatment in hospital from now to any kid who doesn't have this SSN

    3. We must have a army awareness training for every children in our education from the basics (like a subject in their studies)

    4. We must maintain all personal records online. ( like address,telephonic-mobile,educational,financial- like IRS, driving licence, passport, other ID, credit cards, health,Insurance, vehicle registrations and criminal records all these things must be interlinked with their SSN )

    5. Reckless Driving: If you had paid more than 2 fines in last year. this year yours insurance premium should be increase 10 %. Because a copy of your fine receipt will goes to your insurance provider. if it is more than 5 your licence should be canceled.this is the advantage of online interlinked your info. these fines must be debited from his account. So here we solved the traffic-police corruption.

    6. If some one wants to do some illegal activities he must funded by some one from outside or inside if we have all his account details we can get him easily. Because this is an unuseual transection.

    7. Through this one we can reduce a lot of BINAMI-POLITICS. if some politician trying to swallow our money. there is no other way to get it because nobody is there to BINAMI every one having their own records So IRS will question the person where you got this money from.

    8. Why am I talking about politics these are our internal terrorists.

    9. Media people also acting like this for their money they were stopped and quietening a fire officer who is doing his duty
to rescue some one. The question was how are you feeling now?

    10. If you wants to implement these, most of politicians will trying to stop these because they will get nothing from these only security to our kids and our nation.

I am proud to be a fan of JP.

I want to bring you up my thoughts and area of problems , i could see daily

We have to upbring the people who are called downtrodden and the one who are living as untouchable but in a way to do this every political party making the benificary for their own and creating total confusion for the future generation . If this happens furthur it will lead to total Chaos. Some of the political members are putting so much of tension for Public everday .

Everday in newspapers , we do see not less than one scam in any department of government. This year ACB has caught so many corrupted people ( i heard like almost 1000 crores of illegal money they found ) , but where were they gone ? Why these incidents are repeating still one after the other ?
One question for you again .. You are saying , the people can themselves rule , if it was decentralized to mandals and as smaller locations as one can .Do you think , gud accounting would be possible in this scenario?

    Dear Dr. Jai Prakash,

I am a scientist working in Canada. It’s really nice hearing that you lunched a new political party in the name of Lock satta.

    With best wishes

  150. Respected Dr JayaPrakash,

I am a big fan to you and your goal towards the society. I have been thinking of your entrance into politics for couple of years and I came to know that something we should try to change our system.
So, I have been working for a web site www.sthanik.com. The main use of this site is people can raise their voice towards the society. If anyone facing any problem locally (Constituency level or State level or National level), they can post an Issue so that anyone can see that Issue, rate that Issue and comment that Issue. If it gets popularity, even politicians can know the genuine problems of citizen. An officer can see all the issues in his department and do the needful. MLA can see all the Issues in his constituency. Also MP can.. So finally the government, all the political parties and public know the real needs. This is how it is useful.
Hello Sir, I just try to do little bit favor to our society. If you feel this good please send a mail to dilip187@gmail.com or you can contact x-trunk.com.

    Yours truly,
    Dileep.

  151. Dear Narayan Sir,

Please ask the media & every politician on behalf me that, if somebody raises the question of any politican against policy, immediately they will tell the person who raises the question belongs to opposition party. Being a citizen and voter of AP, is that person not eligible to ask? And why they assume that all the people are belong to opposition party.

Please mail me the answer to rama@vgmail.in and ask in every discussion where you will participate

  153. Dear Dr JP garu,
I was impressed by your Lok Satta movement when I was in college. Didnt have much political context/ knoweldge but realized that you are something different. Since then I am amazed how you are able to mobilize the citizens towards the noble cause.
Only one concern that bothers me. I know many educated people understand your ideologies. But how do you make sure that this awareness is spread across the uneducated, village voters? Not sure how will LSP be successful without their support. I'm hoping you will be able to steadily gain their trust as well.
Everyday I wake up looking at the news paper to find some news about you/ LSP. Dishearting to see media covers only sensational news of politicians making personal allegations/ degrading statements about other politicians.
I'm one amongst the citizens hoping to see you taking over the government at state and making it a pathway to change national politics.
I'm trying to influence my own circle in favour of LSP and requesting them to do that as well. May be one drop to add to pool of drops to make the ocean :-)

Best wishes for the forthcoming elections.

    Regards,
    Sirisha.

  154. Dear JP Garu,

I am Indian born settled in America. Looking at past few years in AP politics, I have almost lost hope in our politician system in AP. I have seen every political party and politicians in Andhra Pradesh craving for power and money but hardy any one to serve common man. I have seen politicians today viewing politics as investment to invest in politics and to make money.

I am so moved with your Ideology and your political movement which you started. I stopped by at your local party office in Hyderabad and got your party book, when I was on vacation in India last year. After going thru the values of the party and the people associated with it, I can see the a ray of hope.

I have registered myself as a member and I am carrying a message of hope among the
Telugu community I am connected with here. It gives me great pleasure and sense of responsibility to do my best to be part of this movement and hope that the Principles and values of Lok Satta party will not be diluted with time.

  162. Hi Respected JP sir,
I really appreciate for your strong commitment towards a good nation. I really want you to win the 2009 elections and become the chief minister of AP. I, as a citizen of india(hyd) really tired of the bloody politics in our state.
Sir why dont you reach people through television or some way. Only educated people know about you and not the poor and village people. To win the elections you also need these village people. PLEASE TRY TO GET AWARENESS IN THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE PARTY.THERE IS VERY LITTLE TIME NOW FOR THE ELECTIONS.And our country is really lagging behind. Where ever we go there is corruption(From CM to the Clerk).
WE ARE WAITING FOR A CHANGE AND FOR A GOOD NATION.
I wish you all the best.
PLEASE WIN THE ELECTIONS AND CHANGE OUR STATE.YOU DONT CHANGE.
Waiting for a good nation and good state.

  166. Hello sir i am a student.....i am really inspired by your ideas and the movement u started. But i have a doubt that is this movement reaching people(all the educated and uneducated) correctly??? i don't think so.Many people don't know what is loksatta and what loksatta is trying to do to help the people coz ours is a country where most of them don't care about the society and have no idea of what is happening in society i.e complete social unawareness and its really herculean task to reach every one in such a huge nation. The media in our country never shows or publishes the positive news and never gives importance to such movements and each political party is owning a channel and there is no channel left to show all the good that is happening or will happen by loksatta n this is really bad .I also saw the list of ur candidates for 2009 elections and many of them are not familiar or popular...don't say that this doesn't matter coz to win in elections definitely we should have strong candidates to face all the leading so called political parties and the money n all stuff they spend during the time of elections....try to reach people as much as possible. In our country bringing change is not easy in fact very very very hard.So we should not expect success for the first time but let us hope that we(loksatta) get atleast few seats and start our step towards the betterment of this country. We are with u for this and all the very best sir.....

Because that definitely gives us the confidence to defend you in our peers.

    1) if we can afford a canvasing vechile arrangement as Mrs Purandeshwari does that would take our ideas more strongly into the public.
    2) can we float some information

  171. Hi JP Sir,

I am Gautham, a student of Final year MBBS @ Andhra Medical college.
I've written a lengthy mail to you a few weeks back but i din get any reply for it.. Anyways shortly I want to tell you this.. You are in the heart of every educated citizen and all the ones who feel responsible for the country.. But the thing is most of them are in the cities.. Rural people, they probably might not have heard even your name too.. But if you see more than half of the votes come from rural areas and if you do not make the rural people know about you, how can you win..!!
Do this sir if you think its a good idea..
Go to rural people with this slogan
"Take the currency and alcohol supplied by political parties(that are trying to betray you) during elections.. But vote for loksatta party becoz those people will never know whom you've voted.. Betray the government that is going to betray you'"

"MOSAM CHESEY PRABHUTVANNI MIRU MOSAM CHEYANDI"
"VEREY PARTILU ICHEY SARA PACKETLU, DABBU TISKONDI KANI LOK SATTA KI VOTE VEYANDI.."
"MIREVARIKI VOTE CHESARO VALLAKU TELISEY AVAKASAM LEDU"

Go to the public with these slogans..!!

Hope it'll help you reach people easily..

    All the very best sir,

  172. Hi Sir....
I had a great respect towards u....basically I was from kakinada and now I was residing in kukatpally....
I was very proud to say that MY FIRST VOTE WAS TO ONE OF THE GREATEST.....Who had the ability to make some good impact to change these rotten politics....which r going worse day by day.
The CHANGE is what desperately NEEDED..and that CHANGE can be achieved through a well educated like U.
But one thing sir...the things and the vision u r planning were good enough but common people were thinking that "How JP alone can bring the CHANGE?" and they were not really interested to vote for our party(Except Kukatpally)..
Basically they were not able to understand what was going around the world due to lack of global exposure....even some educated people were also thinking that from our party u will be the only one candidate who can win....but the remaining cannot...and under this conditions what can JP Change...? and finally they r concluding the decision..,not to vote for us.
and under all this what we people can do sir...how the CHANGE can come.
even i tried to motivate some but they were arguing..."How JP alone can form the Government with one win?"
Sir thats why i'm saying one thing...even our party unable to form the government this time...u have to show this state that they have done a big mistake by developing the winning constituencies in international manner.....
and lastly i'm remaining u one thing that what u have done in ur life..."Every journey starts with SINGLE STEP"
    thanq sir...

  173. Hello sir I am very happy we got a leader like you,But your message is not reaching properly.

I am glad that a very common man is able to reach our leaders this way.I would like to take this opportunity to caution you on reach of your message.

I come from a agriculture back ground family(a small village near gajwel medak dist.)as far as my knowledge is concern in villages there is no much movement as here in cities may be because of internet. What I fell is volunteers should be sent to villages to educate them because 80% of the vote bank lies in rural india.

Hope you will cinsider this idea.

  174. Hello JP Sir,
Iam a student doing masters at Texas A&M University. Iam really impressed by the way you are looking into the problems. At 1 point of time i thought that these politics will never change and it is really waste of time to vote. But i donot have to think in that way anymore.
The only thing that i want to mention is about spreading the party. Because alot of people are not aware of LSP and the thoughts of LSP, it needs to be done. So, i think it will be great to interact with people more. And i know that this will take lot of money. But there are students and younger generation like me who are willing volunteer. The only thing is they donot know where to start and how to start.
So, my request is that if LSP can able to interact with bachelors, masters and doctorate students all over the Andhra Pradesh, that will really help to get the right government.

Thank you sir for letting us to write our opinions.

  188. If there is a party in India to which by casting their votes people would say proudly that is 'Lok Satta'.

Any big work starts with a small one. This time I can see at least one clear change... Professionals have turned out to cast their votes (some of them are first time in their life).. It's because of Lok Satta.

  194. Hello JP,

I am really inspired by your thoughts of reforming our political scenario what is existing now in India. I attended one of your speeches in Kurnnol, really it was very good experience for me. I even had a shakehand with you. I just want to share my experience with my friends when I asked them to vote for Lokasatta if they want clean and green politics in AP. Every one liked the party's fundamentals but every one was saying, "if I only vote for Loksatta, it won't win the election and I will be wasteing my vote". I got this response from almost every person whom I asked. Then I told them, "Winning and Lossing" is secondary, but whether we are using our vote for the good cause or not is very important".
I hope every one could realise and think twice before they support any party or person.

My best wishes to the Loksatta and you,

    Bharat Mata Ki Jai

    Regards,
    Suresh Kumar. P

  196. Dear JP Sir,

I am inspired and exited by your speeches on various issues. But, somehow I feel that Loksatta party is becoming a One Man party. Least heard about others in Loksatta. Are you not preparing the next level leaders in the party? No party in India wanted to know the importance of nurturing the next leadership. Always they took the next leader from the leader's family. Why can't Loksatta build another 20 names visible to State. Visible means, they should voice out their views on the current issues. That is what you are doing now. People slowly understanding that JP's views are right. A similar kind of thing has to be happen with next level of leaders. They should start spread their views on the issues we are facing. We have a very good coverage now with the Media. May be then common man will accept it as a larger party and he can cast a vote to Loksatta.

    Thanks and All the best.

    SUMAN.....NOOTHANKAL
